InfoRelay Online Systems Inc.
Distributed Denial of Service Attacks and You
A Distributed Denial of Service Attack occurs when multiple systems flood one specific server with requests in an attempt to shut it down. There are multiple ways to perform a DDoS attack, and usually the perpetrators will infect networks of systems from which to launch the attacks. At some point, all of these machines will work in conjunction with each other to simultaneously attack their target by sending these requests. Because of the large mass of requests, the target computer will become bogged down either through bandwidth consumption, CPU usage, etcetera. It can be highly difficult to defend against a DDoS attack, as the sheer scalability of the amount of attacking machines can fluctuate by a great degree at any given time. This type of attack is highly malicious, and most definitely has the potential to disrupt the flow of business and e-commerce.
How InfoRelay Protects You from a DDoS Attack
InfoRelay utilizes several different methods of combating DDoS attacks. We use the Top Layer IDS/IPS system in conjunction with other proprietary technologies to combat any measure of network intrusion and DDoS attacks. Top Layer systems have proven time and again to be among the best of the best at defending against DoS and DDoS attacks.
EXAMPLE: Managed Advanced DDOS Protection Service
This service utilizes custom rules configured within our Cisco routers in conjunction with Enterprise-grade Top Layer DDoS network protection devices. We can provide fine-grained filtering of approximately 1,000Mbps of attack traffic utilizing this technology, and we can provide additional protection at the router level. In general, this type of protection prevents distributed denial of service attacks from having a negative impact on your site's uptime.
